World No Tobacco Day: Health Risks & Awareness

"Ne fume pas"

"No smoking zone"

These are the messages that are most often overlooked by most of us. Sometimes it's observed, but addiction to anything is always so dangerous that the person addicted doesn't care to see the warning and alarms around them.

How Tobacco Harms Health and the Environment

Tobacco is ruining the health of people but increasing and filling the pocket of the manufacturer. Although the government has imposed restrictions, such as a warning click on the packet of tobacco, which people conveniently overlook and continue with the addiction, not releasing slowly and gradually, they are becoming the greatest enemy of the environment and that environment in which they are living.

"Giving up doesn't necessarily mean that you are weak; it sometimes means that you are strong enough and smart enough to let go."

Government Efforts to Reduce Tobacco Use

Many government programmes are running to eradicate tobacco use.

"World No Tobacco Day" is an annual awareness day on the 31st of May. It was started in 1987 by the member states of the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness of the various harms caused by tobacco products to not only people but also to public health, communities and the environment. We need to burn calories daily, but not tobacco. Replace your cigarettes with glasses of juice daily. Some of the slogans or messages are now and then being flashed on various social media, but the problem is a person's habit; only a person can do this if he understands, as it is said, a human being is an enemy of himself. UICC(Union for International Cancer Control), Leading the global fight against cancer, fully supports the celebration of World No Tobacco Day and emphasizes raising awareness of the harmful effect of tobacco use on health, specifically cancer cases and deaths. Tobacco products cause 2.4 million deaths globally every year, and almost one-fourth of all deaths are due to cancer (about 10 million). For this reason, Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) advocates for effective tobacco control in middle and low-income countries where 80% of the world's smokers live and supports the implementation of cost-effective measures to curb tobacco use.
