Understanding Depression

Depression We are hearing this word frequently now a day from people that I am depressed or someone in my known is in depression situation and this is not limited to any age, almost every age group people are facing this so-called depression. There are lot of reasons for the depression as per the situation individuals are facing in their life. Feelings and depression can be connected to experience in someone life such as a tragic loss or a violent event and it has many other causes which can be difficult to understand. Other reason people are not sharing their feeling and hiding what they are feeling might be they do not want to disclose themselves, their loneliness, hopelessness and that those depression feel.


However, some people become depressed and do not know why. They may feel they do not have a reason to be depressed specially if they perceive their life as being good or easy compared to others. May be this pressure to explain and justify things to themselves can lead them towards depression.


How to Help Someone Who Is Depressed

Here, I want to give you some ways to help people who are facing depression and you really love and care about them.


So, first thing we have to take care in our mind that be polite and become a good lister when you are talking or dealing with depressed or mentally unstable people, we have to be much sensitive, build up confidence so that they can share their feelings with us, many people have fear that if they will share their things or feelings with someone and that person spread it among other people may be in their family, relatives, friends or anyone in known, then what they will think about me and it may hurt the person to a large extent and upsurge his depression.


So, if we truly want to help someone to get out from depression then we have to be a trustworthy in every way and a good friend. So, that they also listen to us. Generate the feeling in them that what we are saying is good for them and we are a good friend of them, we can keep them busy in different ways like - hey let us discuss something may be anything positive or as per their interest in which they really feel happy, can we hangout or do something excited.  

We must be interactive, get them involved, they should feel that we are here to guide them in any situation.


Also, it is important to encourage them to go outside and attend small gatherings, because depressed person does not want to do anything, they want to remain alone in their own aura, we need to become one to help them out with this bad situation.


Depressed person does not want to do anything for themselves as they feel there is no worth of them in their own life. But soft care from someone is immensely important may be a small gift, a hug, or a small gesture, essentially the things that make them feel delighted and worthy.


Fix good vibes in their soul, into their mind and tell them everything will be ok soon, and just be there for them. It is always wonderful to be loved and being a trustworthy friend to someone who is in need.

We need to know the depressed person thoroughly about their likes, dislikes and we need to assure them how amazing and wonderful they are, they worth something in life even though they are not thinking this right now.
